– Findings from the New England Adult Learner Persistence Project
Vita’s board, staff, and volunteers believe in the transformative powers of education to create a better society. This belief has provided Vita with both opportunities and challenges to develop programs that meet the changing needs of our adult learners. We serve the unemployed, underemployed, and uneducated adults in the Bucks County community and the criminal justice system. As such, much of our programming focuses on developing skills that allow our students to gain entry to a highly competitive work environment, to transition to further education and training, and to support their children’s success in school.
Literacy Programs
Vita is the lead literacy agency in Bucks County, offering free instruction to prepare adults to function effectively in their roles as family members, employees, and citizens. Our programs are designed to improve skills in basic reading, writing and math; to prepare to pass the GED or HiSET High School Equivalency (HSE) test; and to increase English proficiency.
